Why choose Standard over Elongated for Power?
Two words: **Hand Speed**. Elongated paddles can feel "head heavy" and slow to swing at the net. A Standard or Hybrid shape has a lower swing weight, allowing you to react faster to speed-ups. If you lose hands battles because you are late to the ball, this is your solution.
Do I lose power with a shorter paddle?
You lose a tiny bit of leverage (whip), but you gain **Swing Speed**. Because the paddle is easier to swing fast, many players actually generate *more* power with a standard shape because they can accelerate the paddle head more aggressively through the ball.
Is the sweet spot larger?
Yes. Standard and Widebody shapes are wider than elongated paddles. This pushes the "dead zones" further to the edges, giving you a massive, forgiving sweet spot. If you want power but hate mishits, this is the safest bet.
