Buyer's Guide: Sizing Your Gear

Fit is critical for protection. If the gear is too big, it will slide around and expose knees and collarbones to impact.

1. Leg Guards (The Most Critical Measurement)

Measure from the Center of the Knee Cap to the Top of the Cleats (bottom of shin).

  • 11" - 13": Ages 7-9 (Youth)
  • 13" - 15": Ages 10-13 (Intermediate)
  • 15" - 17": Ages 14+ (Adult)

2. Chest Protectors

Measure from the Base of the Neck to the Navel (Belly Button). Fastpitch protectors are cut differently than baseball ones—they have a "break" in the chest to accommodate female players.

Safety Alert (NOCSAE): All High School and College catchers MUST wear a chest protector with the NOCSAE Stamp to protect against Commotio Cordis (heart impact). We verify that all our sets meet this standard.

Common Questions

Can I mix and match sizes?
If you buy a Box Set, usually no. If your player has long legs but a shorter torso, we recommend buying Individual Pieces to ensure the perfect safety fit.
Why is Fastpitch gear different?
Unlike baseball gear, Fastpitch chest protectors are designed without a groin plate and with a specific curvature for the female chest. Leg guards are also shaped to prevent "crossing over" when moving laterally.
How long does a set last?
Leg guards usually go first (broken clips or worn knees). A good set should last 2-3 seasons. If you are an Alpha Member, replacing just the leg guards becomes much cheaper than buying a whole new set.
