Style Guide: Long Cuff vs. Standard

Batting gloves have evolved. While the classic fit is still popular, the new wave of "Long Cuff" gloves is taking over the game. Here is how to choose.

1. Long Cuff (The Modern Power Style)

Brands like Jax have popularized this style. The cuff extends further down the wrist and uses a wider, double-wrap strap. This acts almost like a wrist tape job, providing immense stability and preventing your wrist from rolling over too early in the swing. Ideal for power hitters.

2. Standard Cuff (The Traditional Feel)

The classic Franklin CFX or Akadema style. These have a shorter cuff that stops right at the wrist bone. They offer maximum freedom of movement and a lighter feel. Preferred by contact hitters who want zero restriction.

Leather Matters: Look for "Cabretta" or "Sheepskin" leather palms. Synthetic palms are cheaper but won't give you the tactile grip needed for elite play.

Common Questions

Do you carry Bruce Bolt?
We carry Jax Batting Gloves, which feature the same premium Cabretta leather and Long Cuff wrist support design that is popular in the pros, often at a better value point.
How tight should they fit?
Tight! Batting gloves should feel like a second skin. If there is bunching in the palm when you grip the bat, they are too big, and that bunching will cause blisters.
How long do they last?
It depends on usage. A daily travel ball player might go through 2-3 pairs a season. To extend their life, let them air dry after games (don't wad them up in the bottom of your bag).
