Choosing Your Armor

Modern protection is lightweight and unobtrusive. There is no excuse for getting injured by a wayward pitch or a bad slide. Here is what you need to know.

1. Elbow Guards

This is the #1 confidence booster. If you are afraid of getting hit, you will bail out on the outer half pitch. An elbow guard allows you to stay in the pocket. EvoShield uses "Gel-to-Shell" technology that molds to your specific arm shape for a custom fit.

2. Leg Guards

Foul balls off the shin or ankle bone are excruciating. A batters leg guard protects the lead leg (Left leg for righties, Right leg for lefties) and includes a foot shield to protect against foul tips driving into your cleats.

3. Sliding Mitts

The new essential. Head-first slides are dangerous for fingers. A sliding mitt features a hardened top and bottom shell to prevent jammed fingers and cleat spikes when reaching for the bag.

Gear FAQs

How do I size an EvoShield guard?
EvoShield guards come in a foil pouch. Once opened, they are soft. You strap them on, and they harden (cure) in about 30 minutes to the exact shape of your body. One size fits most for elbow guards; leg guards come in Youth and Adult.
Do I need a specific Sliding Mitt for Left/Right hand?
Most modern sliding mitts (like EvoShield) are reversible or universal. You simply flip the thumb hole to wear it on either hand. We generally recommend wearing it on the hand you extend first when sliding.
Are these allowed in High School?
Yes. Protective guards are fully legal and encouraged in NFHS and NCAA play.
