Youth Fastpitch Sizing Guide

Buying a glove that is too big is the #1 mistake parents make. A glove that is too heavy or long will slow down your daughter's hand speed and make it harder to squeeze.

1. Ages 5-9 (10.0" – 11.5")

For this age, priority #1 is the "Squeeze." These gloves are constructed with softer leather and lighter cores to ensure even small hands can snap the glove shut. Look for brands like Mizuno or Rawlings entry-level series.

2. Ages 10-12 (11.75" – 12.0")

This is the transition to Travel Ball. The ball gets harder, and the game gets faster. These players need a "Youth Pro" glove—high-quality leather that offers protection, but with a tapered wrist and finger stalls designed for a female hand that is not quite adult-sized yet.

The "Wrist Test": When she puts the glove on, there should not be a huge gap between her wrist and the strap. If the glove wobbles, it is too big. Use the adjustable velcro straps to lock it in.

Parent FAQs

My daughter is 11 but tall. Should I buy an Adult glove?
If she has larger hands, yes. However, most 11-year-olds still benefit from a Youth Taper or a "Narrow Fit" adult glove (like the Wilson A2000 "PF" series) to ensure they have total control over the glove.
What is a "Utility" size for Youth?
For a 10-12 year old, an 11.75" or 12.00" is the perfect utility size. It works for Pitcher, Infield, and Outfield at that age level.
Do these gloves need break-in?
The 10"-11.5" gloves usually come 80-90% broken in. The 11.75"-12" elite youth gloves will be stiffer (steerhide) and will require some break-in work, just like the pros.
