Buyer's Guide: Fastpitch Helmet Essentials

Fastpitch helmets are different from baseball helmets. Here is what you need to look for to stay legal and safe.

1. The Facemask Rule

Almost every fastpitch league (Youth, Travel, High School, and College) Requires a Facemask. All helmets in this collection come with the mask pre-attached and certified.

2. Visibility & Fit

Modern masks are designed with wider eye openings so they don't block your view of the pitch. These helmets also feature contoured rear shells to accommodate a ponytail comfortably.

3. Sizing (Head Circumference)

Measure around the head just above the eyebrows.

  • 6 1/2" - 7": Junior / Youth Size
  • 7" - 7 5/8": Senior / Adult Size
Safety Check: Never paint a helmet yourself. The chemicals in spray paint can break down the plastic shell, voiding the warranty and the safety certification.

Common Questions

Do I need a chin strap?
Yes. Most leagues require a chin strap to keep the helmet secure while running bases. If your helmet doesn't come with one, we sell them separately in the accessories section.
What makes it "Fastpitch" specific?
Aside from the mandatory mask, fastpitch helmets are often sized slightly smaller and have dedicated space for long hair/ponytails so the helmet doesn't sit too high on the head.
When should I replace it?
We recommend replacing helmets every 2-3 seasons, or immediately if the helmet suffers a major impact (like a hit by pitch) or if the foam padding starts to crack.
