Why -10 is the Industry Standard

If you aren't sure which bat weight to buy, the -10 (Drop 10) is almost always the correct answer for players aged 13+.

Not sure on size? Watch this guide to sizing Fastpitch bats:

1. What does -10 Mean?

The "Drop" is the difference between the bat's length (in inches) and its weight (in ounces). A 32-inch bat with a -10 drop weighs 22 ounces. This ratio provides enough mass to drive the ball to the fence while remaining light enough to catch up to 60mph+ pitching.

2. Who should swing it?

This is the primary bat for High School and College hitters. If a player is transitioning out of 12U and into 14U or High School, moving from a -11 to a -10 is the necessary graduation step to handle faster pitching and create more exit velocity.

Pro Tip: Balanced vs. End-Loaded? Most -10 bats (like the standard Ghost or LXT) are "Balanced," meaning the weight is distributed evenly for speed. If you are a power hitter, look for "End-Loaded" models specifically.

Bat FAQs

Can I use a -10 for power hitting?
Absolutely. While some elite power hitters prefer a -9 or -8, the -10 is used by the vast majority of clean-up hitters in high school because bat speed is the #1 factor in generating power.
What is the most popular size?
The 32"/22oz and 33"/23oz are the best-selling sizes in the country. 32" is standard for Freshmen/Sophomores; 33" is standard for Juniors/Seniors and College players.
Does the membership cover $400+ bats?
