Fitting Your Armor: The Sizing Guide

Improperly fitting catcher's gear is dangerous. If it's too loose, it won't protect the collarbone or knees. If it's too tight, it restricts throwing mechanics.

1. Chest Protector Sizing

Measure from the base of the neck (clavicle) to the navel (belly button).

  • Youth (Ages 9-12): Typically 12" to 14".
  • Intermediate (Ages 12-15): Typically 15" to 16".
  • Adult (Ages 15+): Typically 16" to 17".

2. Leg Guard Sizing

Measure from the center of the kneecap to the bottom of the shin (just above the ankle bone).

  • Youth: 12" to 14".
  • Intermediate/Adult: 15" to 17".
Safety Note: All chest protectors in this collection are NOCSAE Certified to protect against Commotio Cordis (impact to the heart). This is required for High School and most Travel Ball leagues.

Gear FAQs

Do I need a "Hockey Style" helmet?
Yes. Almost all modern catchers prefer the Hockey Style mask for its superior vision and full-head protection on backswings. The old two-piece skull cap is rarely used in youth/HS baseball anymore.
What is "Intermediate" sizing?
Intermediate is the sweet spot for the 12-14 year old player who is too tall for Youth gear but too skinny for full Adult gear. It usually features a slightly narrower chest protector profile.
Does the $0 Due Today cover full sets?
Yes! A quality set of gear (Helmet, Chest, Legs) can cost $300-$500. Our membership allows you to get the full All-Star or Easton set for $0 down so your player is protected immediately.
