The Physics of Power: Why 14mm?

In pickleball, "Power" comes from stiffness. A thinner core (14mm or 10mm) is more rigid than a thick core. When the ball hits the face, it doesn't sink in; it rebounds instantly.

1. The "Pop" Factor

If you feel like you are swinging hard but the ball isn't going anywhere, you likely have a paddle that is too soft. Switching to a 14mm Titan or Diadem will give you immediate feedback. The ball leaves the paddle face faster, making your drives and overheads harder to return.

2. Hand Speed at the Net

Thinner paddles are generally more aerodynamic and slightly lighter. This allows for faster "Hand Speed" during volley battles at the kitchen line. If you like to speed up the ball rather than dink, this is your paddle.

Spin Warning: Don't worry about losing spin. All our Power Series paddles feature Raw Carbon (T700) surfaces, which provide the grit needed to shape the ball, even with a thinner core.

Common Questions

Is 14mm harder to control?
Slightly. Because the ball pops off faster, you have less time to "hold" it on the face. However, modern Carbon Friction technology has made 14mm paddles much more controllable than the fiberglass paddles of the past.
What is the difference between 10mm and 14mm?
10mm (like our Luxe series) is the ultimate power spec. It feels very stiff and is extremely lightweight. 14mm is the "Modern Power" standard—it offers great pop but still has enough core to absorb some vibration.
Are these USAPA Approved?
Yes. All Titan and Diadem paddles in this collection are USAPA approved for tournament play.
