Buyer's Guide: Outdoor vs. Indoor

Using the wrong ball is the #1 mistake new players make. The balls are chemically different and designed for specific surfaces.

1. Outdoor Balls (40 Holes)

The Standard: Balls like the Dura Fast 40 or Franklin X-40.
Features: Smaller holes to cut through wind. Made of harder, heavier plastic to bounce on asphalt/concrete. They play fast but can crack in cold weather.

2. Indoor Balls (26 Holes)

The Standard: Balls like the Jugs or Onyx.
Features: Larger holes to slow the ball down. Made of softer plastic to grip slick gym floors. They are quieter and last longer, but will feel "mushy" if used outside.

Temperature Warning: Outdoor balls get brittle in the cold. If you are playing in temps below 45°F, expect them to crack faster. Keep them warm in your bag until game time!

Common Questions

How long do they last?
Outdoor balls are consumables. A competitive game can wear a ball out in 3-5 matches (it will go "out of round" or crack). Indoor balls generally last much longer, often weeks or months.
Why are my balls wobbling?
If a ball flies erratically, it has gone "out of round." This happens after heavy hitting. Squeeze the ball lightly—if it feels oval instead of round, it's time to toss it.
