Choosing Your Elbow Guard

A good elbow guard does more than stop bruises—it eliminates the fear that causes you to bail out on inside pitches. Here is how to choose the right style.

1. Single Strap (Compact)

These guards cover just the elbow bone (the funny bone). They are lightweight, low-profile, and perfect for players who want minimum restriction. Recommended for players who want to maintain maximum arm mobility.

2. Double Strap (Extended)

These guards extend further down the forearm (tricep and forearm coverage). They are ideal for players who crowd the plate aggressively or face high-velocity pitching. The extra coverage protects against the ball riding up the arm.

Fitting Tip: Most guards (especially EvoShield) are sold as "One Size Fits Most" for Adults, and a separate "Youth" size for players under 10. Check the product title carefully.

Common Questions

How does the molding work?
EvoShield guards come in a sealed foil bag. Once you open it, the gel reacts with the air and begins to harden. You strap it on your arm for 30 minutes, and it cures into a hard shell perfectly shaped to your body.
Can I remold it if it doesn't fit?
No. Once the Gel-to-Shell technology cures (hardens), it is permanent. Make sure you read the instructions and wear the guard exactly how you want it during the 30-minute curing process.
Are these machine washable?
Most guards are hand-wash only. For EvoShield, you can usually hand wash the fabric sleeve if you are careful, but never put the hard shell in a dryer as the heat can warp the protection.
