Which Guard Do I Need? (Left vs. Right)

This is the most common mistake when buying leg guards. You need to protect your Lead Leg (the leg closest to the pitcher).

1. Right-Handed Hitter (RHH)

You stand with your left side facing the pitcher. You need a Left Leg Guard (or an RHH Guard). It protects your left shin and the top of your left foot.

2. Left-Handed Hitter (LHH)

You stand with your right side facing the pitcher. You need a Right Leg Guard (or an LHH Guard). It protects your right shin and the top of your right foot.

Important: Some brands (like EvoShield) sell guards labeled specifically as "RHH" or "LHH." Others make universal guards. Always check the product title before buying.

Common Questions

What size should I buy?
Most brands offer two sizes: Youth (typically under age 10-11) and Intermediate/Adult (Age 12+). Because the guard molds to your leg or uses adjustable straps, the sizing is very flexible.
Why is the foot shield important?
Foul balls often go straight down. Without a foot shield, a foul tip can drive directly into your ankle bone or the top of your foot. The extension on these leg guards absorbs that impact so you can stay in the box.
How do I mold the EvoShield guard?
Do NOT open the foil bag until you are ready to wear it! Once opened, strap it to your leg (over your game pants) and let it sit for 30 minutes. It will harden into a permanent custom shield.
