Buyer's Guide: Senior Sizing

Proper fit means protection. Shin guards must bridge the gap between your skate and your hockey pants.

1. Measuring for Length

Sit with your foot flat on the floor. Measure from the center of the kneecap to the top of your skate boot.

  • 14 Inch: Height 5'5" - 5'9"
  • 15 Inch: Height 5'7" - 5'11"
  • 16 Inch: Height 5'9" - 6'1"
  • 17 Inch: Height 6'1"+

2. Tongue Style (Crucial!)

Floppers (Tongue Out): If you wear your shin guards over the skate tongue, buy the exact size you measured (e.g., Measure 15", Buy 15").
Tuckers (Tongue In): If you tuck your shin guards behind the skate tongue, add 1 inch to your measurement. You need the extra length because the pad sits higher on your leg.

Fit Check: When you bend your knee, the knee cap should stay centered. If the pad slides down and exposes your thigh, it is too short or too loose.

Common Questions

Do I need tape?
Yes. Even with the velcro straps, almost every player uses clear shin tape (sock tape) below the knee to lock the pad in place so it doesn't rotate when you get hit.
How do I wash them?
Remove the inner liner (if detachable) and machine wash. For the hard plastic shell, spray with disinfectant and air dry.
