Catcher's Mitt Rental FAQs

Do you rent both Baseball and Softball mitts?
Yes. This collection includes both Baseball Catcher's Mitts (smaller pockets, thicker padding) and Fastpitch Softball Mitts (deeper pockets for 12" balls). Please check the product title to ensure you select the correct sport.
What if the mitt is too stiff for my child?
This is exactly why we created the rental program. Stiffness varies by brand (e.g., All-Star is stiffer than Rawlings R9). If your catcher cannot close the mitt comfortably, simply return it and rent a softer, game-ready model.
How do I know what size mitt to rent?
Baseball: Youth typically use 31"–32.5". High School/Adults use 33"–34".
Softball: Most ages 12U and up use a 33" or 34" mitt to handle the larger ball.
Can I keep the mitt if I like it?
Yes. All rentals come with a Buyout Option. If you break it in and love it, you can pay the difference to keep it forever.

Guide: Choosing the Right Rental Mitt

The catcher's mitt is the most specialized glove on the field. Buying the wrong one can lead to passed balls and bruised hands. Use our $0 Down Rental Program to find the perfect fit.

Baseball vs. Softball Mitts

  • Baseball: Has a smaller, shallower pocket for quick transfers. Heavy padding on the thumb to protect against 90mph fastballs.
  • Softball: Has a huge, deep pocket to secure the 12-inch ball. Usually has a thinner heel to allow for a wider break.

Why Rent Instead of Buy?

  • Break-In Testing: Some mitts take months to break in. Renting lets you see if you have the patience for a "Pro Stiff" mitt or if you need a "Game Ready" one.
  • Growth Spurts: Catchers often move from a 32" to a 33" mitt in a single season. Renting allows you to size up without buying a new $300 glove.

Pro Tip: If your catcher is new to the position, rent a mitt that is slightly broken in or features "Soft" leather (like the Rawlings R9 or Mizuno Franchise) before graduating to a Pro-Level stiff mitt.
