Grip Guide: Don't Let It Slip

In pickleball, your grip pressure dictates your game. A slippery handle forces you to squeeze too hard, which kills your "soft hands" for dinking and leads to tennis elbow.

1. VukGripz (Friction)

If you play in humid weather or sweat heavily, this is the solution. It uses micro-texture to "lock" into your hand (or glove). It allows you to relax your grip pressure entirely, increasing wrist speed and control.

2. Cushioned / Overgrips

If you prefer a soft, squishy feel, stick with Lizard Skins or standard overgrips. They excel at vibration dampening and provide a tacky, comfortable surface that feels familiar to tennis players.

Pro Tip: Most pros use an "Overgrip" (a thin layer of tape) on top of their stock grip. This slightly increases the handle size and allows you to replace the surface cheaply every few weeks without buying a whole new grip.

Common Questions

Do these fit all paddles?
Yes. VukGripz and Lizard Skins are universal length. They will fit any pickleball paddle handle, from standard 4" handles to elongated 5.5" handles.
Can I put this over my existing grip?
Yes. You can wrap it directly over the stock grip to add thickness and cushion (this is called "building up" the grip). Or, remove the old grip entirely for a thinner, more connected feel.
Which thickness should I choose?
For Pickleball, most players prefer 0.5mm or 1.1mm. Anything thicker (1.8mm) can make the handle feel too bulky and reduce your touch at the net.
