Lefty Outfield: Choosing Your Size
Confidence in the outfield comes from trusting your glove to secure the ball. For lefty outfielders, we generally break this down into two size categories.
1. The 12.50" – 12.75" (Speed & Agility)
Best for younger players or elite outfielders who prioritize running speed. These gloves are lighter and easier to control, allowing for a faster arm swing when tracking deep fly balls.
2. The 13.00"+ (Max Range)
Best for Center Fielders and "No-Fly Zone" defenders. The 13" glove is the standard for high school and college play. The massive pocket acts as a vacuum, turning snowcone catches into routine outs.
Pro Tip: We strongly recommend the "Two in the Pinky" grip for all outfield gloves. This shifts your hand leverage, making it easier to close a large glove and creating a deeper pocket that locks the ball in.
Common Questions
Can I use this glove for First Base?
It is legal to use a lefty outfield glove at First Base, but it's not ideal. A dedicated First Base mitt (no fingers) is much better for scooping low throws. However, if you can only afford one glove for both positions, a 13" Outfield Glove is the versatile choice.
What is "LHT"?
LHT (Left Hand Throw) means you throw with your left hand and wear the glove on your Right Hand. All products in this collection are for right-hand wear.
Which web is best for outfield?
Trap-Eze and H-Web are the gold standards. They are flexible and create a deep pocket that "gives" when the ball hits it, preventing pop-outs.
