Buyer's Guide: Senior Sizing

Adult pants are sized by waist circumference. They should fit securely on the hips without restricting your stride.

1. Waist Measurements (Approximate)

Senior Small: Waist 30" - 34"
Senior Medium: Waist 32" - 36"
Senior Large: Waist 34" - 38"
Senior XL: Waist 36" - 40"+

2. Fit Profiles

Tapered (Vapor/Jetspeed): Wider at the hips but snug in the legs. Designed for quick, agile skaters.

Classic (Nexus/Tacks): Wide and voluminous throughout. Offers maximum coverage and "room to breathe."

Girdle + Shell: A tight compression layer with pads (Girdle) worn under a nylon shell. Preferred by players who want a custom fit.

3. The "+1" Zipper

Are you tall and thin? Look for pants with a 1-Inch Extension Zipper hidden under the belt padding. Unzipping this lowers the thigh guards by 1 inch without making the waist any wider.

Safety Check: The bottom of the pant leg must overlap with the top of your shin guard kneecap. If there is a gap, you risk a direct impact to the bare thigh bone.

Common Questions

Do I need suspenders?

If you have narrow hips or a flat stomach, pants often slide down. Suspenders are the best way to keep the spine protector in the correct position. Most Senior pants have suspender buttons built-in.

Can I wash them?

Yes. Hockey pants (and girdles) can be machine washed on a cold/gentle cycle. Air dry only. The high heat of a dryer will ruin the nylon and warp the plastic inserts.
