Buyer's Guide: Sizing for Kids
If the gloves are too big, your child won't be able to hold the stick properly. If they are too small, their wrists are exposed to slashes.
1. Youth Sizes (Ages 4-8)
These gloves have shorter fingers and softer padding to help kids close their hands around the stick.
- 8 Inch: Ages 4-6 (Height 3'3" - 3'9")
- 9 Inch: Ages 6-8 (Height 3'8" - 4'2")
2. Junior Sizes (Ages 8-13)
These offer more protection and structure as the game gets faster and pucks get harder.
- 10 Inch: Ages 8-10 (Height 4'1" - 4'7")
- 11 Inch: Ages 9-11 (Height 4'5" - 4'10")
- 12 Inch: Ages 10-13 (Height 4'9" - 5'2")
The "Gap" Check: When they put the glove on, the cuff should meet their elbow pad. There should be no exposed skin on the forearm. If there is a gap, you need longer gloves or longer elbow pads.
Common Questions
Should I buy them big so they grow into them?
No. Oversized gloves make it impossible to feel the puck. This develops bad habits (looking down at the puck). Buy the size that fits now. Use your Member Savings to upgrade next season.
What if my child has long fingers?
Try a Tapered Fit (like Bauer Vapor or CCM Jetspeed). They tend to have slightly longer finger gussets than the anatomical Supreme or Tacks lines.
How do I measure?
Measure from the base of the middle finger to the crease of the elbow in inches. That number is your glove size. (e.g., 10 inches = Size 10).
