The "In-Between" Age (10-12)

This is the most critical transition in a fastpitch player's career. The pitching gets faster, the ball gets harder, and the cheap synthetic glove she used in Tee Ball will no longer protect her hand.

1. The "Youth Pro" Fit

These gloves use the same leather as adult gloves (Steerhide) but are built on a smaller frame. The finger stalls are shorter and narrower, and the wrist opening is tapered. This gives her the protection of a pro glove without the loose, floppy fit.

2. 11.75" – 12.00": The Perfect Utility Size

At this age, players often rotate positions. An 11.75" or 12.00" glove is the perfect "Utility" size—it works for Pitcher, Infield, and Outfield. It allows her to learn every spot on the diamond with one high-quality piece of leather.

Break-In Warning: Unlike the Junior gloves, these are made of real leather. They will be stiff! Plan for 2-3 weeks of catch and mallet work to get them game-ready.

Elite Youth FAQs

Why shouldn't I just buy an Adult glove?
Control. An adult glove has wider finger stalls. If her fingers are sliding around inside the glove, she can't squeeze it shut quickly. A Youth Taper ensures her energy transfers directly to the glove's hinge.
What is the difference between this and the 10-11.5" collection?
Durability and Padding. The 10-11.5" gloves are soft and light. These Elite Youth gloves have thicker palm padding and durable laces to withstand 50+ mph pitches and hard grounders.
Which brands are best for this age?
We love the Wilson A1000/A2000 PF (Pedroia Fit), Rawlings R9, and Resilient SFBL. All three offer high-end leather with that crucial tighter fit.
