Parent's Guide: The "Junior" Fit
At ages 5-9 (Tee Ball and Coach Pitch), the glove is about building confidence. If the glove is too heavy or stiff, the player will develop bad habits (like catching the ball like a waiter with a tray).
1. Softness Matters
We specifically select gloves for this collection that require zero break-in. They are made of softer, pre-oiled leather or synthetic shells that allow a 6-year-old hand to squeeze the glove shut instantly.
2. The Power of the Velcro Strap
Almost all gloves in this size range feature a Velcro wrist strap. Tighten this strap! A secure glove feels like part of the hand. A loose glove feels like a foreign object.
